Living In New York
Living, What you need when in New York
New York City’s cutthroat attitude is great for things like chasing down taxis and forcing tourists to get back in their lane. But all that innate New Yorker stress and rage has a way of bubbling over when, say, someone accidentally touches your hand on the subway or cuts in front of you on the elevator line. Thankfully, there are a number of excellent spas primed to lead you into a state of ultimate bliss with the help of massages, body scrubs and more, and though some of these will cost you a year’s worth of monthly Metro Cards, others are affordable enough to have you kneading out your knots on the regular.
Stylish shops make New York City one of the world’s premier shopping destinations, but savvy shoppers know there’s still more to discover beyond Fifth Avenue and Soho. From Americana Manhasset Long Island’s “Miracle Mile” mall of posh designers to the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, fabulous finds await you! Upscale malls and outlets in Hudson Valley benefit from proximity to New York City fashion. Woodbury Common boasts one of the world’s largest collections of designer outlets, from Armani to Zegna. Over 150 super stores at the Westchester Mall include Kate Spade, Neiman Marcus and Tiffany’s. Dine at the Cheesecake Factory and check out specialty shops like LL Bean and Sephora at Colonie Center in Albany. Nearby, Crossgates mega-mall features an IMAX theater.
If there’s ever a time to visit a shopping mall, it’s when you’re in the United States of America. Luckily, New York City has more than a few awesome shopping malls to offer! The Time Warner Center next to Columbus Circle is a big shopping center with some great luxury shops. It features Hugo Boss, Swarovski, J. Crew and more. Also don’t forget to pay a visit to the huge Whole Foods Market in the basement. The Manhattan Mall near Herald Square offers a selection of stores. A big JC Penney’s is the main occupant of the mall, but you’ll also find a Victoria’s Secret, Hallmark, Radio Shack and more.
