Ice Skating In New York

You and the family have lots of choices when it comes to finding the perfect place to lace up this winter. Whether you are planning a trip to New York City this winter or you are a local, make sure you save some time for ice skating. People in New York used to skate on frozen ponds and lakes, including The Lake in Central Park. Today there are several options for skating all throughout the city, no matter what your budget is.
Rockefeller Center Ice Rink is the most famous place to go ice skating in New York City. This is the iconic rink that is seen in many holiday films, including Elf and Home Alone 2! There is nothing quite like taking a twirl around the ice underneath a 90-foot Christmas tree with your family or friends! This rink allows you to skate for 90 minutes per session, and allows 150 people on the rink at one time.
Bank of America sponsors the only free ice skating in New York at Bryant Park. If you don’t have skates you will have to rent them, but there is no admission fee. You can also enjoy the beautiful Bryant Park tree and the Winter Village, full of unique gifts and yummy treats! Also, even though it isn’t the Rockefeller Center tree, there is a beautiful tree at the Bryant Park rink as well.
Wollman Rink offers a beautiful skyline view of the city from Central Park while you skate. The Wollman Rink can be seen in several films, including the end of the film “Serendipity.”
Lasker Rink, Lakeside Prospect Park, The Standard Ice Rink, Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers, City Ice Pavilion, Riverbank State Park Ice Skating Rink, Abe Stark Rink at the Coney Island Boardwalk are some amazing ice skating centres in New York City.
